ENZO: This is Enzo F. Cesario with another edition of the Brandsplat video report. What's up, Ben?

BEN: How ya doin'?

ENZO: Doin' good. Big news this week: everyone's talking about the new edition of the New York Times on the iPad. You know what that is?

BEN: I'm excited. Yeah. I want to get one... an iPad.

ENZO: (He holds up a copy of the New York Times newspaper.) Some day this might be gone. But what they're doing is, they're getting you on it for free, and they're probably going to start charging you down the road. Isn't that what a drug pusher does? Or a pimp?

BEN: And marketers.

ENZO: And marketers. We're all the same. No wonder nobody likes advertising people. I also want to direct your attention to the Harvard Business Review blog has a really interesting article on gonzo marketing, and how doing stunt marketing can sometimes be really really bad if you're doing it for the wrong reasons. I'd like to bring your attention to this little – I think this is supposed to be viral, because it's kind of kookie – this is from Air New Zealand. Check this out. (He shows the You Tube clip Air NZ – Happy Hour.) So, Ben, what do you think?

BEN: I – What is that? A squirrel?

ENZO: I don't know. So is this a stunt? Are they trying to be viral? Do you think this is good for the brand? What do you think?

BEN: It's risky.

ENZO: It's kind of risky. It's got a ton of puns. I think that's the most risky part about it.

BEN: Politely putting it.

ENZO: Yeah. So the third story this week is that interactive doesn't just have to be digital. Check out this really cool outdoor board. This is by Quicksilver. We actually engage with the outdoor board. (He shows a photo of a billboard which is a real skateboard ramp mounted on the side of a bus stop.) We try to do this all the time online, and sometimes we forget that people like to have fun in real life too. I also like this one. This is only engaging because I'm a perv. (They laugh.) But I like this one. Check this one out from Wonderbra. Pretty nice, huh? (He shows a picture of a bus-stop ad for a wonderbra that looks like it broke the glass of the bus stop.) Get it? It's kind of engaging. This is Enzo F. Cesario. See you next time.
