ENZO: This is Enzo F. Cesario with another edition of the Brandsplat video report. How ya doin' Ben?
BEN: I'm doing well. I like the fists.
ENZO: You like that? It's 'cause I'm punching my way through the snow. Snow in L.A. today! No kidding.
BEN: I know. Unbelievable.
ENZO: I was making a joke about it last week, and I think...
BEN: Get the shovels out.
ENZO: Yeah, exactly. I want to talk a little bit today about the new Xoom Tablet. A lot of people are raving about it, but nobody is saying they would buy it over the iPad. It does have a front-facing camera on it, and it looks pretty sexy. It's a little bit wider than the iPad.
BEN: I like the wider.
ENZO: You like wider? 'Cause it's like wide screen, right?
BEN: Yeah.
ENZO: But you're still kind of lagging on – because it's running on the Android system, the app situation is just not as robust. So take a look. You can get a really nice review here at TechCrunch. (He shows clip from http://techcrunch.com/2011/02/26/fly-or-die-xoom-kno-tablet/.) They talk about it, the pros and cons, and if you're in the market for a tablet, check it out.
BEN: We need some competition there.
ENZO: We do need competition. I also want to talk a little bit today about Google's efforts to stop content farming. Do you know what that is, Ben?
BEN: I've heard about that, but we would never engage in anything like that.
ENZO: We don't.
BEN: No we don't.
ENZO: No we don't. Just like in farming, you use manure to grow stuff, right? (They both laugh.) Content farming is just spewing out content with keywords in it that can help your search engine rankings. I'm sure you've come across this sort of thing. Sometimes it's even gibberish. You can't even understand it, or it sounds like it comes from, you know, India or Pakistan or somebody who doesn't speak English but they're just seeding their content with the right keywords.
BEN: It's very cheap.
ENZO: Yeah, it's a cheap way to go, but it's also black hat. Google's trying to put the kibosh on that because, after all, their whole business relies on being able to have relevant content up there at the top, right?
BEN: That's right.
ENZO: So they're stopping... I wonder how they're going to stop that. How do you think they're going to stop that?
BEN: I don't know, but we better find out.
ENZO: We better get that algorithm. They do change their algorithm like, I don't know, twenty times a year or something like that? Something incredible?
BEN: Yeah.
ENZO: We've never changed our algorithm, have we? (They both laugh.)
BEN: Where is our algorithm? I've been looking for it.
ENZO: Didn't we fire him? He was too expensive. Also, this is interesting: Oscar week. By now the winners are out. But this is from last week, right? Check out the most viewed trailers on YouTube. Check out... Who do you think the number one movie was?
BEN: I cheated. I already know.
ENZO: Oh. Who is it?
BEN: Toy Story 3.
ENZO: That's right. They're number one with fifteen million views. Let's do a little comparison. The King's Speech which is kind of a smaller budgeted movie...
BEN: A grown-up movie.
ENZO: It's a grown-up movie. Only one point three million. So we'll see how that affected anything... if that is congruent with the winners or not. Anyway, interesting to look at YouTube Trends. Check out YouTube Trends for the latest trends on what's going on on YouTube. It's pretty interesting. Anyway, this is Enzo F. Cesario, and it's freezing. It's really snowing in L.A. See you next time.
